Dr. Winkler is a nice German girl who hails originally from NYC. Her quest for education led her to several exotic and glamorous locales including: the North Bronx, Northern Vermont, and Manhattan, Kansas (“The Little Apple”). After obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2006, she completed a one year internship at a clinic on the central coast of California, where she met her husband and obtained one of their cats, Opal. They stayed out there for three more years following the completion of her internship. Deciding they were sick of great weather, fresh avocados and phenomenal wineries, they picked up and moved to the bustling metropolis that is Altoona in 2010, where they obtained the second of their cats, Lucy Fur.

In her rampant spare time, Dr. Winkler effortlessly balances mild obsessions with reading, knitting, spinning, quilting, bread baking and gardening with the demands of chasing her two rambunctious toddlers. Together with her husband and said toddlers, she is overly fond of ridiculously long road trips squashed into too-short weekends, and dreams of going further abroad whenever possible, or taking a nap.
