Tanja N. Winkler, DVM

Dr. Winkler is a nice German girl who hails originally from NYC. Her quest for education led her to several exotic and glamorous locales including: the North Bronx, Northern Vermont, and Manhattan, Kansas (“The Little Apple”). After obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2006, she completed a one year internship at a clinic on the central coast of California, where she met her husband and obtained one of their cats, Opal. They stayed out there for three more years following the completion of her internship. Deciding they were sick of great weather, fresh avocados and phenomenal wineries, they picked up and moved to the bustling metropolis that is Altoona in 2010, where they obtained the second of their cats, Lucy Fur.

In her rampant spare time, Dr. Winkler effortlessly balances mild obsessions with reading, knitting, spinning, quilting, bread baking and gardening with the demands of chasing her two rambunctious toddlers. Together with her husband and said toddlers, she is overly fond of ridiculously long road trips squashed into too-short weekends, and dreams of going further abroad whenever possible, or taking a nap.

Dr. Uplinger

Dr. Uplinger was born and raised right here in Blair County where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Williamsburg, PA. She attended Messiah College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then ventured to the Midwest where she went on to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University. After graduating, she settled in Park County, IN to work in a mixed animal practice – she did both small animal and dairy work and sale barn work. It was there that she met and married her husband. They later moved even farther west to Missouri in hopes of starting their own beef cattle farm. However, they had 2 children within one year, “Irish twins” and so decided to move back to PA to be near family. Dr. Uplinger, her husband and now 4 children have lived here in Blair County for the past 13 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, keeping up with their sporting events and loves helping them with their 4H projects consisting of market hogs and lambs. They also have 1 horse and several barn cats at home.

Dr. Rebecca Jackson, DVM

Dr. Jackson grew up spending time at her family’s veterinary hospital in Indiana. After graduating from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, Dr. Jackson moved and practiced all over the country (a wonderful result of her husband’s military service). Dr. Jackson and her young family have since settled into State College. Dr. Jackson thoroughly enjoys practicing veterinary medicine, but when she is not working, she enjoys going to sporting events with her family and travelling. “I am very excited to be a part of the Blair Animal Hospital Team, and I look forward to serving our community to the best of my ability.” –Dr. Jackson
